Presidents Report 6th June 2018

Ian-Bushby-president-2017-2018

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

What a week at the Rotary Club of Rosanna! Gauging by members reactions last week, there is no doubt that Jodie proved to be one of the better guest speakers that we have seen in a long time. The Big Group Hug are a wonderful group of dedicated people who deserve all the help that can be given to them.

The Market was held last Saturday with a very chilly start and turned out a fine and sunny day. However, it is clear that it is getting tougher and the numbers continue to drop, and it’s obvious that we either find some ways to boost the market or some new avenues of revenue will be required.

An impromptu Board meeting will be held this week to make an important decision on what level of support we are able to provide. Community Services Chairman Neil has ideas which we will try to bring forth in this Rotary year.

Remember, we still need a President Elect Nominee for President 2019/2020 so if you are able, then please tell one of the nominating committee – Neil, Sandra or Ian.

Our meeting this week will be focusing on your final Committee meetings of this Rotary year. Wash up outstanding matters as Chairmen prepare to hand on their successors. A smooth handover is very important as we head towards a new Rotary year. In addition, this week we will see the award of the Jim Lloyd Award to the apprentice plumber from Melbourne Polytechnic.

Not finalised your Annual Report as yet? This is now urgent as Chris will be ready to compile and complete the Annual Report in the coming week. Please get your reports to Chris urgently and they must be in MS word format.

Not many weeks to go, we need to make every item count as we complete a good Rotary year. We’re not there yet, but we are in a winning position so let’s keep up the hard work and remember our theme as we go about our daily business –
‘Making a Difference’ – a motto that I have no doubt we are all living up to.

Yours in Rotary,
Ian Bushby
