Presidents Report – 25 November

Ian Bushby rosanna rotary president 2017-2018

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

Another great week and fantastic guest speaker in Mark Rusic. I trust that everyone enjoyed his talk as much as I did. Mark Rusic is an author, artist and speaker who gave us all some great things to consider in our daily lives which come his own experiences. I am sure that those who bought his book will capture some even great wisdom and enjoyment from Mark.

A couple of weeks ago, we’ve distributed some bags along with a list of items to collect for Brother Harry to distribute to the less fortunate folk in the community. Neil currently has the spares if anyone needs them. We would ask that they be brought to the meeting from next week so that all can be collated to go off to Brother Harry for distribution. Please do your best to fill the bags (and add more if you wish), and provide some much needed support to the local area.

Our RYLA participant Renee will return home tomorrow after her week at the camp. I am sure it was a great learning experience for her despite the difficulties en- countered at the camp. Sadly, a participant passed away at the seminar and this has had an effect on all who attended. Thanks to Chris Bence who will pick
Renee up tomorrow and make sure that she is well cared for.

Whilst our January meetings are almost sorted, and we will share that information in the coming weeks, we have an issue with the meeting prior to Christmas. The Austrian Club will close early and our final meeting for the year will be Wednesday December, 13. We will reconvene from Wednesday January 10 at a venue to be advised. Whilst it’s a 3 week break it is the best we can do under the circumstances.

Haven’t registered for Conference yet? Please do so quickly, Merle needs to finalise our accommodation and Friday night dinner. Conference booking are all on-line at: Trybooking

Please complete your survey and return it to Florin so that he can create a little more certainty and fairness in the allocation of duties at our Club. Please remember, if you are shown on Roster then it’s your responsibility to do the job or if you are unable, then please arrange a replacement for the Roster. Thanks again to the early birds who set up last week, much appreciated.

Remember our theme as we go about our daily business – ‘Making a Difference’ – a motto that I have no doubt we can all live up to.

Yours in Rotary, Ian Bushby
