Presidents Report 12th September 2018

Another great meeting as we welcomed our DG Malcolm Kerr and his wife Jill. Malcolm spoke about his life in general and his School days remembering one of his favourite teachers telling him to always remember WHO WHAT WHEN HOW & WHY. Malcolm began his teaching career in Robinvale, where he met his wife Jill. They have three children. He joined the Rotary Club of Cobram in 2002 and was Club President 2009-2010; he was approached to take on the role of Assistant Governor Group 7, Moira-Northern and from this role he became part of the District Team. Our District Governor Malcolm spoke to us regarding his commitment to Inspira- tion, and all the different ways this means to him and others.
Jill spoke to us about her Partner’s Project, 2018-2019 Rural Aid. This was founded in 2015 to provide a central point of focus for rural communi- ties who require assistance. Rural Aid operates as a Charity.
Several new programs have been imple- mented, designed with rebuilding and repairing in mind. Recent weather events such as drought, fire
and cyclones highlighted the need for services more than ever before (think of Buy a Bale, Ham- pers to Help.)
World Polio Day is on Wednesday 24th Oc- tober. Barry Rassin International President 2018-19 has asked every Rotary Club to find a way to raise
awareness of Rotary’s work to eradicate polio. We still have a little way to go; we can’t yet say that po- lio has been eradicated until every single child is immunized. If any of our work is slowed or stopped; if any of our momentum is lost, we risk losing every- thing we have worked for. We must all be the inspi- ration to end polio NOW.
Happy Dollars – What a great “Happy” fine session we had; I am sure our DC was impressed. According to our wonderful treasurer we raised
$204.90. Well done Florin and all members who contributed!
