President Report 7 Nov 2018
Again a reminder for our Christmas Hampers: bags for members to fill will be available soon from Yevonne Pollock; we also have a suggestion list available. This is for Brother Harry (Alice House) and I am sure that our effort is really appreciated. We’ve welcomed our guests: visiting Rotarian Anthony Femandez (Manningham Rotary Club) and Monica Clark (Liberal Candidate for Ivanhoe). Monica Told us that over the past 22 years she has been a nurse, also a family lawyer for the last 12 years, and she has devoted her life to improving the health and the lives of families and children. I visited Lois Sparke in the hospital (giving her a get well card from all and flowers). Lois had a fall going into the post office and was admitted to the Austin Hospital with a broken Patella. She was then transferred to the Old Repat Hospital, and in the next couple of days she will be transferred to Rehabilitation in Ivanhoe. She is still in quite a bit of pain at moment, but hopefully she will be up and around very soon. We all wish her a speedy recovery. Our Guest Speaker Anne Allison from Oakdale Funerals gave us an insight into her Funeral Business explaining to us that it is imperative that we all should tell our next of kin what sort of funeral we would like; that would include music and other things that we would like to remembered by. She also talked about the need to have a prepaid funeral in place. Update on Shelter Box: the part- nership between ShelterBox and Rotary has played a key role in the ability to re- spond quickly to assist countries that have been affected by earthquakes where hundreds of thousands of people have been left homeless. Have you booked for Conference? The Early Bird saving is running out; I am sure Brian Summers would also like to know who will be attending Dinner at RACV club Melbourne on the Saturday Night. Please let him know.
DATES TO REMEMBER: SEE NOTICE BOARD IN OUR WEEKLY PUBLICATION OF ROSANNA ROTARIAN.
Please also remember if you have been rostered to do a job at the meeting and you are an apology ask someone to be your deputy.
