Farmers Market 4th January

The market on the first week in January is usually a very small market with not a lot of stalls and few Club volunteers. This year the market was smaller than usual , 15 or 16 stalls, the car park never reached more than half full. We decided not to have the BBQ. and just collect entrance money as usual. We also decided that given the disastrous bushfire situation we would direct all entry donations to the Red Cross bushfire appeal. This resonated with the small number of attendees at the market who were in the main very generous with their donations.
We collected $1,668.45 with single donations ranging from $100 many $50, $20 , $10 and $5. It was one of the most satisfying experiences we have had at the market. Green eggs donated their regular supply of eggs to the BBQ, which club members bought and the money went to the appeal.
This week, we wrote a cheque to the Red Cross for $1,700. Thanks to all the generous patrons of the market who so generously gave to the appeal.
